Shibden View Cottage

Our historic cottage is nestled on the side of the dramatic Shibden valley, famous as the home of Ann Lister, ‘Gentleman Jack’. Shibden View offers luxury, self-catering accommodation for up to four adults. Situated on the cobbled Hough, our recently renovated, 18th century building boasts two en-suite bedrooms, a fully fitted kitchen/diner and a cosy, first floor lounge with panoramic views over Shibden Hall and estate. Free, off-street parking and WiFi, with enclosed outdoor seating areas.

Shibden View Cottage has stunning views and benefits from a total refurbishment, completed in 2021.The cottage features a log burner in the spacious kitchen/diner, which is fitted with a dishwasher, washing machine, fridge, freezer and microwave. The cosy upstairs lounge has a juliette balcony and double doors which can be opened to maximise the stunning views.

Two comfortable bedrooms with king sized beds, one can be split into two singles if required (please let us know when booking). Both bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms with showers.

The cottage is a 10 minute drive from the Halifax Piece Hall, The Piece Hall is nestled within a dramatic landscape of rolling hills and wooded valleys at the centre of the West Yorkshire town of Halifax.  This is Britain’s last surviving cloth hall and, following a multi-million pound transformation project, now features independent shops, cafes and bars, heritage visitor centre, art gallery and a spectacular events programme.

The Shibden valley itself is a stunning location for walking, running or cycling. The Pennine Bridleway National Trail, including the Mary Towneley Loop, passes through the area, as well as the Calderdale Way. There are shorter walks available locally which take you past the famous filming locations of the ‘Gentleman Jack’ series.
