As the annual festivities unfold, we find ourselves once again immersed in the vibrant tapestry of local markets that define the heartbeat of communities around the world, that are testament to the enduring spirit of grassroots entrepreneurship, cultural exchange, and community cohesion that thrives within our local marketplaces.

So, grab your tote bags, put on your walking shoes, and join us as we embark on a journey to rediscover the magic of Calderdale’s local markets during Love Your Local Market 2024.

Halifax Borough Market

Opening times: Monday – Saturday, 8am – 4.30pm

Halifax Borough Market is an award-winning market first opened in 1896. Discover prize-winning pies, five local butchers, a fruit and vegetable stall, a traditional sweet shop and two fishmongers.

We have a vibrant flower shop, a perfumers, a lingerie stall, clothes stalls and a well-stocked hardware shop. We even have fabulous wine and beer shops.

There are also lots of cafes and stalls all serving up a variety of cuisines.

Todmorden Markets

Market Hall

Opening times: Monday – Saturday, 9am – 5.30pm, closing at noon on Tuesday

Wander around Todmorden Market Hall and discover a wide range of local delights, including chocolates, flowers, books, cards and other delicious delicacies.

You’ll find butchers, cheese stalls, an old-fashioned sweet shop and a traditional Mediterranean shop.

If you need a break from shopping, sit back and relax in our indoor cafés and micro-pub.

Open Market

Opening times: Wednesday – Sunday, 9am – 4pm

Our outside market was opened in 1802 with over 72 stalls, selling a huge range of fresh, local and handmade produce, as well as delicious hot food. On Thursday we hold a special second hand and craft market.

Hebden Bridge Open Market

Opening times: Thursday – Sunday, 9am – 4.30pm

Hebden Bridge Market offers up a mouth-watering mix of produce, from home-made pies and pastries to cheeses, fish and locally-reared meats. On Thursdays and Sundays, we sell fresh produce and hot food.

Visit on Saturdays to discover arts, crafts and artisan products, or if you want to grab a bargain, look no further than the Second Hand Market every Friday.

Elland Charter Market

Opening times: Friday, 9am – 4pm

You will find our vibrant and historic market in the heart of the Elland town centre.

Our small, but perfectly formed market has everything you would expect to find and more. It serves a loyal customer base and provides a vibrant social hub for the local community.

The stalls offer a range of locally produced food, including a fishmonger and baked goods, and unique gifts such as crystals and handmade candles.

Brighouse Open Market

Opening times: Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday, 9am – 4pm

Brighouse Open Market offers a range of fresh food that include delicious cakes and popular fish and meat stalls, as well as local crafted products that include an incense stall and a pet stall.

There is also a fabulous café. Why not stop for a rest and a drink or enjoy a wide range of tasty meals and snacks.
