Anne Lister walk incorporating the Way of the Setts
Event description
Meet at Halifax Minster, where the walk up to Beacon Hill, via the ancient Old Bank – Anne Lister’s regular route from and to Halifax to do her daily business, including to buy her diaries, to see her solicitor, and of course to worship at what was then the Parish Church. The walk also takes in Walker Pit, and down into Cunnery Wood, and all under the expert guidance of one of Calderdale Council’s Countryside Services Team, who manage all of this ancient land. Bring your picnic to have once we arrive at Shibden Park, before returning back to the Minster. An event not to be missed, when you can truly walk in Anne Lister’s footsteps! Appropriate footwear should be worn, and please note that this walk includes some very steep sections, which can be slippery underfoot.
