With organic cafés, award winning cuisine, local breweries, farm shops galore, a focus on 'fair trade' across the borough and 'Incredible Edible' in  Todmorden - there's always somewhere where your taste buds will be delighted.

From the arts and crafts of Dean Clough, the Smith Art Gallery and our local artists, to thePiece Hall, Shibden Hall and Halifax Minster, Calderdale is renowned for its creativity, culture and heritage.

Enjoy the outdoors and our dramatic scenery. Landmarks such as Stoodley Pike and the Cragg Vale Incline entice walkers and cyclists all year around, whilst the beautiful National Trust Hardcastle Crags is a must see whatever the season.  Go mountain boarding, canoing , rock climbing, bouldering, waterskiing, skiing, skateboarding or snowboarding. Ride a horse or mountainbike through stunning countryside. Experience the wonders of the waterways, with the Rochdale Canal and Calder & Hebble Navigation, Calderdale boasts miles of towpaths and the deepest lock in the country.  There's also a wealth of reservoirs and local nature reserves, perfect for 'getting away from it all'. You can also enjoy indoor climbng at its best  at the Rokt Climbing Gym in Brighouse.

For shopping visit Hebden Bridge ,“one of the world’s funkiest towns”, or Todmorden, home to the first ever co-operative and a great indoor and outdoor market. Visit the sustainable market in Sowerby Bridge, or Halifax Borough Market  - the 2008 best market hall in Britain.  Sample high street shopping in the Woolshops or visit one of the largest independent department stores, Harvey’s of Halifax.
