SATURDAY 30TH JULY
Enjoy Happy Valley Pride’s Big Day Out, a free day of fun and celebration for all the family with singers, speakers, DJ’s and the ‘Pink Pooch Dog Parade’. Performers include Family Vogue Ball and The Kate Bush Experience. (11am to 7pm at Calder Holmes Park, Hebden Bridge).
At Victoria Theatre Halifax there’s unforgettable songs in ‘Calendar Girls the Musical’, by Halifax Amateur Operatic Society (5.30pm tickets from £19.75).
Calderdale Industrial Museum is open today. As well as all the fascinating working examples of past industry and the amazing volunteers ready to help bring history to life for you there’s an exhibition celebrating the 200th anniversary of the family textile firm John Holdsworth & Co of Shaw Lodge Mills, Halifax. (10am -4pm).
At Bankfield Museum you can explore exhibitions including the world exclusive exhibition of costumes from Gentleman Jack, by renowned designer Tom Pye; the Cragg Vale Coiners, Fashions in the Time of Anne Lister and Shibden 600, marking the 600th anniversary of Shibden Hall. (10am-4pm FREE entry)
Eureka! the National Children’s Museum is open for summer fun Saturday, Sunday and Monday 10am-5pm.
At Square Chapel Arts Centre there are screenings of movies ‘Thor Love & Thunder’ and ‘The Railway Children return’ at various times throughout the weekend.
SUNDAY 31ST JULY
Local talent will be performing live music in the Piece Hall courtyard from 2pm to 7.30pm
Walk an old medieval Greenway with Calderdale Heritage Walks (2pm).
At the Grayston Unity in Halifax the Revelator Band are playing live at 4pm (FREE)
At the Victoria Theatre’s Green Room Bar Antidote presents Jo Burke and Mycorrhiza at 7pm (Tickets from £10)
YORKSHIRE DAY MONDAY AUGUST 1ST
The Piece Hall Game Show returns to The Piece Hall in Halifax, (10.30am – 3pm) with live music in the evening from 6pm-9pm. Today also marks The Piece Hall’s fifth anniversary since reopening in 2017!
At the time of writing (Friday 29th July) here’s “light showers and a gentle breeze” forecast for Calderdale for Saturday, Sunday and Monday – which could be perfect weather to get out and enjoy a walk in one of Calderdale’s wonderful parks, our stunning countryside or with some shopping in one of our characterful towns and villages. You can always pop into a cafe, bar, pub or market to take shelter from the rain it starts to come down cats n’ dogs and treat yourself to some of Calderdale’s great food and drink. #buylocal
