Did you know that Doctor Who has been to Wainhouse Tower in one of the Timelord’s adventures?

In the full cast audio drama ‘The Running Men,’ the Ninth Doctor (played by Christopher Ecclestone) is travelling to Shibden Hall for tea with Anne Lister, when the TARDIS materialises at Wainhouse Tower. Stepping out of the TARDIS the Doctor comments:

“What a beauty! Only the Victorians would bung a massive Gothic tower on the side of a valley.”

As usual, rather than bringing the Doctor to where he wanted to go, the TARDIS has brought him where he needs to be and a new adventure in time and space swiftly unfolds, centred around the Halifax Gibbet. The Doctor works alongside police officer Sergeant Ambika Desai (Fiona Wade) and local historian Frank Glover (Simon Rouse) to thwart the return of ‘The Running Men.’

During this adventure, the Doctor visits Bankfield Museum:

“Look at that – proper history!”

and takes shelter from the Running Men in one of the houses on the ‘Streets in the Sky’ above Halifax Borough Market:

“Wow, these houses are bigger on the inside!”

At the adventure’s climax the Doctor needs a giant temporal vortex conductor to stop the threat of the Running Men and as he puts it “The Tower of Spite is just what we need!”, leading to a thrilling finale set atop Wainhouse Tower.
