Wainsgate Chapel is a former Baptist chapel hidden away down a quiet track on a hillside just outside Hebden Bridge in the South Pennines of West Yorkshire.

The historic Grade II* listed building has a thriving programme of arts, heritage and community activities and events, which mix the international with the local, and offer high-quality, life-affirming experiences for people of all ages.

Accessibility Information

We are currently working with Historic Chapels Trust to make Wainsgate a more accessible building, but we still have some way to go.

Wainsgate is accessed via an uneven track which is currently not accessible by wheelchair.

There is disabled parking adjacent to the venue, and an access ramp was recently installed, which gives step free access to the ground floor and the chapel through the two doors at the side and back of the building.

There are two toilets in the building which are gender neutral. One is fully accessible.

The first floor is accessed by a staircase with 20 steps. It has  wooden rails on one side.

There is currently no toilet on the first floor.

If you have any questions about access, or would like to talk about support for your visit please don’t hesitate to contact us at:
