The British Urban Film Festival comes to Halifax this October

The British Urban Film Festival has arrived in God’s own country – Yorkshire!

From October 16th to the 20th, Halifax will be buzzing with 48 fantastic independent film screenings and Q&A sessions at the Vue Halifax.  This festival is well known for showcasing incredible urban independent films, telling stories as diverse as the people they represent.

Usually held in London, this year the festival has come to Yorkshire, with events being held in both Halifax and Leeds.

Prepare yourself for a thrilling line up of short films exploring everything from working class life and motherhood to the refugee and migrant experience, plus much more. You’ll see talented stars like Josette Simon OBE (known for ‘Small Axe’ and  ‘Anatomy of a Scandal’) in the gripping psychological thriller ‘Rea’s Men’, a captivating Jamaican folk tale. And don’t miss Araloyin Oshunremi (Stefan from Netflix’s ‘Top Boy’) also stars in the film ‘Falsehood’, portraying Richard, a young boy navigating his identity in two worlds.

For the full scoop on the films in Halifax, check out the Visit Calderdale Events page, where you can book tickets via Eventbrite. And if you’re a true film buff, grab a three-day BUFF ticket that also grants you entry to the grand finale – the BUFF Awards Ceremony at Dean Clough on October 20th.  Don’t miss out!
