Stoney Royd Cemetery
In 1860, after the death of Francis William Rawson, 17 acres of Stoney Royd estate were bought by Halifax Corporation for £6000. In 1860, landscape architect Edward Milner was selected to design the new cemetery, it was to have three chapels: Church of England, Roman Catholic and Non-conformist. The isolation hospital closed in 1934 and was demolished two years later.
