Preview evening 26th April 2018, 6pm - 9pm Exhibition 27th April to 1st July 2018 An exhibition of new work by Kate Lycett at Heart Gallery in Hebden Bridge. Everyone welcome. Kate Lycett lives in Hebden Bridge and calls this quirky and popular Northern town home now. She is a resident artist at Heart Gallery on Market Street and has exhibited there successfully since 2012 so now has a huge following and collectors of her original paintings and hand finished prints. Her textile design background is always present in the way that she paints, and interprets what is around her. She sees patterns in everything; the hills adorned with houses and washing lines, rows of flower pots and stripes of brightly painted drain pipes. Lines of gold thread trace the lines through the landscape, and gold leaf changes the surface of her pictures with the changing light of day. She wants to paint beautiful pictures of the places that she loves; and what’s not to love about Hebden Bridge and the surrounding hills she now escapes to with her running buddies to find a bit of ‘me’ time? Craggs & Fells exhibition at Heart Gallery has been inspired by Kate’s love of the countryside around Hebden Bridge and her hours spent fell running in all weathers over the last few years. “In a busy house where everyone likes to talk at once, I sometimes run just to be still. Through the bogs and bracken, in the sunshine and the snow, I’ll play out on the hills. Within a few minutes a hill will turn from black to gold, and then disappear altogether behind an on-coming squall.” From Hell Hole Rocks down to Mytholm Steeps, Swillington Farm to Stoodley Pike and Gibson Mill to Shackleton Knoll, Kate’s got it covered so prepare yourself for a fabulous journey around Hebden Bridge through the seasons that we love so much and make our valley one of the most beautiful in Yorkshire
