Look out for the over-enthusiastic Girl Guides, Val Keen and Babs Eager and rival Pigeon Fanciers Eric and Harold. Marvel at the ball-slinging, self-exploding contraption Thingamabob and enjoy a circus sitcom set in a pub. You can even try your hand at some amazing circus skills - could you be the next star of the ring? GREENBANKS PRODUCTIONS - THE PIGEON FANCIERS 11AM, 1PM & 3PM Lifelong Pigeon rivals Eric and Harold are going to a “meet” with their finest feathered athletes. On route, they meet…is it a pre-planned rendezvous or pigeon luck? Which fancier has the fanciest? Racing at its pigeon best. A LINE ART - THE MERRY MAKER 11.30AM, 1.30PM & 3.30PM Nothing makes you merrier than a one-minute rap on a three wheeled trike... Enjoy a personal rap on the spot and a smile for free from freestyling wordsmith Arji Manuelpillai. SWANK - MAKE UP | BE PREPARED 12NOON, 2PM & 4PM Look out for two fabulous clowning shows from Swank: the big, bold and fully (un)qualified beauticians Cherrie and Suzette and their fully mobile musical make up salon and nail bar. Plus the terribly, terribly jolly Girl Guide duo Val Keen and Babs Eager. CIRCUS HOUSE - CIRCUS WORKSHOP 12NOON - 4PM An open have-a-go circus skills workshop that will give you the opportunity to try your hand at some amazing circus skills. Are they really as hard as they look? Are you the next star of the ring? MIND THE GAP - MIRROR MIRROR 12.30PM, 2.30PM & 4.30PM Two strange mirrored beings have crash landed on the Earth. They know nothing of human behaviour but are curious and keen to learn from the people around them. Will they mimic humour, kindness and compassion, or a darker, more selfish side of humanity? And what will happen when they meet someone who society sees as ‘different’? DR BUTLER'S HATSTAND MEDICINE BAND 1PM, 2.30PM & 4PM A travelling troupe of musicological minstrels, peddling their good-time tonic to all four corners of the land. A sprinkle of ragtime, a dash of swing, a blend of spiritual and gospel essences, a pinch of old-time melodies, a slither of bluegrass and a teaspoon of Vaudevillian showoffery. WHALLEY RANGE ALLSTARS - THE BEST OF ALL POSSIBLE WORLDS 1PM, 2.45PM & 4.30PM A puppet/object show based (very) loosely on a classic book, Candide. A trio of innocents continuously buffeted by fate and circumstance pick their way through a pile-up of obstacles, barriers and misfortunes in an unpredictable landscape - it’s truly The Best Of All Possible Worlds. MAYNARD FLIPFLAP - DAFT AS A BRUSH 1.30PM, 3PM & 4.30PM Maynard Flip Flap is Daft as a Brush. He flips eggs high into the air then attempts to catch them on his head. It’s a silly thing to do, but he's the fool to try it. This internationally travelled street theatre show also includes daring shoe balancing, a coat hanger escape and racing biscuits. RECKLESS INVENTION - THE COMEDY WAITERS 1.30PM, 3PM & 4.30PM A dinner service delight combining silent comedy and graceful slapstick. From the odd plate flip or sculpted napkin our comedy waiters burst into a boy band routine. To a rousing soundtrack of all-time classics, they evoke the genius of Morecambe and Wise with a hilarious boyband homage. DULCE DUCA - UM BELO DIA 1.30PM & 3.15PM Physical theatre and juggling combine in this uniquely funny and dreamlike show from Portugese artist Dulce Duca. MATT PANG - THINGAMABOB 2PM & 3.30PM Inspired by the famous Rube Goldberg Machines (a comically involved, complicated invention, laboriously contrived to perform a simple operation) Thingumabob is a comedy circus spectacle that brings a ball slinging, self-exploding contraption to life. MOLLY ORANGE - PUB 2.30PM & 4PM A new circus-sit-com set in a failing old fashioned boozer. Our landlord and landlady have a big decision to make…go hipster or go hungry. Pub is a farcical look at gentrification, and the choice we have between clinging on to the past or chasing the zeitgeist. Featuring acrobatics, juggling, the odd pint of Guinness and a fiery finale. SAFETYCATCH STREET THEATRE - DOCTOR! DOCTOR! 2PM & 3.45PM A satirical slapstick medical roadshow – with the last Doctor, Nurse and Paramedic still standing, holding the only equipment left. An artful, farcical love triangle set in a clapped out community Ambulance, turned inside out in the middle of an epidemic. Can the audience in the waiting room help them cure all in this national health crisis? AVANTI DISPLAY - FULL CIRCLE 2PM & 3.30PM A mischievous, experimental and comic show that blurs the boundaries between the performers and the audience. Look out for a series of odd actions that might draw you into the performance!

A spectacular show, it tells the story of Prometheus and Pandora, and features virtuoso singers together with the digitally combined voices of over 1000 volunteers drawn from choirs across the North of England. In the opera, composed by Yorkshire-based Tim Benjamin, Zeus, the powerful President of Olympus, faces revolution and anarchy, as prankster activists led Prometheus steal his mystical Fire. The dramatic story includes Pandora and her famous “box” of evils, and is set in a world similar to 1960s America, amid anti-war and freedom of speech conflicts. The opera, which is in English, re-imagines the popular 18th century operas of Handel, which contained many memorable tunes and often dealt with themes from Greek and Roman myth. The performance lasts 100 minutes plus interval.
