This tour will start on the ground floor, but will involve going upstairs to the first and second floors. Recommended age 12+. Admission free. No need to book. Please meet in Reception at Bankfield for either 11am or 2pm

    12.30pm - 4pm Duration: about 90 minutes Halifax’s General Cemetery is the last resting place of nearly 20,000 past local residents and others from the 1840s to 1963. These include Mill owners, Chartists, Waterloo Soldiers, Great War fatalities, Nurses, nonconformist clergy, organ builders, and even murder victims. The cemetery - of European significance, has been rescued from jungle conditions over the past eighteen years and is cared for by its Friends, a public charity. FREE entry
