Phoebe Throssel lives on Quality Street, the bustling hub of a quaint northern town where she runs a school for unruly children. Ten years since a tearful goodbye, an old flame returns from fighting Napoleon. But the look of disappointment on Captain Valentine’s face when he greets a more mature, less glamorous Phoebe, spurs our determined heroine to action. She becomes the wild and sparkling Miss Lily, a younger alter-ego who soon entraps the clueless Captain. As their romance is rekindled, can she juggle both personas? Or will her deception scandalise the town and wreck any future with the man she loves? J.M. Barrie’s delicious farce, written years before his now much-loved Peter Pan, was so well known in its day that it gave its name to the UK’s most popular chocolates, made in Halifax since 1936. In Laurie Sansom's directorial debut for Northern Broadsides, this rare revival also features a commentary from the Quality Street™ factory workers, whose own stories of hapless romance and growing old disgracefully give the show a playful Yorkshire twist. TICKETS: £20 ADULT, £18 CONCESSION, £15 PARTIALLY RESTRICTED GROUPS: BUY 11, GET 12TH TICKET FREE. FOR FURTHER HELP WITH YOUR GROUP BOOKING, PLEASE CALL THE BOX OFFICE ON 01422 849227

“One to watch out for…” (Elaine Paige) “A stunning success... astounding” (Yorkshire Post) The ‘must see’ musical. The astonishing true story of Nicholas Saunderson who sought to make the impossible possible. No eyes. No braille. No hope. It is 1682. He is humiliated and rejected at every turn. Can an emerging genius with numbers confound those who seek to repress him? Set against the contrasting earthiness of Yorkshire and the dreaming spires of Cambridge, No Horizon is a tale of courage, aspiration, love and overcoming adversity. Featuring emotive, stunning music, this epic story tells of Saunderson’s dogged determination to fulfil his dream. It is as moving as it is inspiring. No Horizon seeks to establish Saunderson in his rightful place as a national icon. TICKET PRICES: £20 ADULT, £18 CONCESSION, £15 PARTIALLY RESTRICTED GROUPS: BUY 11, GET 12TH TICKET FREE. BOOKING ESSENTIAL AND LIMITED AVAILABILITY. Guided walk through the Shibden Valley with knowledgeable local photographer Mark Bolton. Mark followed the filming last summer with a keen interest in the Shibden Valley location. This four hour route breaks into two hour walks covering the main filming sites in the valley. It involves hills and some muddy paths so good walking shoes are a must, the countryside round here is beautiful but rugged. Each walk covers different parts of the valley so you can choose to do one or both. Meet at the Shibden Mill Inn for 9.00am with a circular walk leaving around 11.00am. We advice booking a table for lunch for those who have built up an appetite and fancy staying for a bite to eat and a well earned drink by the fire. £20 per person For further information or to make a booking, call 01422 365840

2pm Anne Lister determined this would be a serious union, with Ann Walker moving into Shibden. Coal-mining and ‘Blue’ political door-stepping continued. The 1835 Halifax contest became known as ‘the window-breaking election’. Immediately, ‘mock marriage’ announcements appeared in Yorkshire newspapers. Walk leader: Jill Liddington. 2-hour circular afternoon walk with short readings from Female Fortune, and ends with tea, cake and Q&A in Halifax. There are some steep steps, walking boots or shoes are advised. Meet at 2pm in the Piece Hall by the Book Corner. HX1 1RE All walks must be pre-booked through Ticket Source [www.ticketsource.co.uk] and cost £5. Bookings open on Thursday 7th November; 8am for walks to 5th April and 2pm for the remainder of the programme. There will be a maximum of 35 per walk.
