The August Bank Holiday weekend will see the start of the popular Hebden Bridge Camera Club Annual Exhibition and, this year, owing to Covid 19 and the impracticalities of arranging a physical exhibition at the Town Hall, it will take place on our website.

The exhibition will start on Saturday 29 August and is a showcase for the work of all our members. There will be both digital and film images, displaying a wide variety of categories, styles and techniques. We are hoping that visitors to our website will have the opportunity to vote for their favourites, which has proved so popular in previous years. The three winning images from last year's exhibition will also be on display.

The club usually meets at The Masonic Hall, Hangingroyd Lane, Hebden Bridge, every Wednesday evening at 7.45pm, from the beginning of September to the end of April. However, during Lockdown, the club has remained active by meeting online via Zoom.

New members are always welcome. Please contact us through our website for details of a free trial membership. Each year the club produces its own Hebden Bridge Calendar and the 2021 version will be available to purchase locally.

For more information, please visit our website.

The Gothic architecture and exceptional stained glass in the stunning All Souls Church displays hidden nature alongside paintings by Jane Austin, bringing nature indoors. Make new discoveries this year through virtual events and self guided walks.

Come and take a closer look to find our hidden nature by taking a walk around the church and surrounding village following the online clues, until we can open the doors to you once more.

This year we are offering you a glimpse inside the historic building and local history of the model village built by Colonel Akroyd, as part of our Halifax Heritage Trail through video.

Akroydon is one of the first model villages in England but almost unknown. The church and village were designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott which becomes obvious when looking at the memorial in the centre of the village. He considered All Souls to be his finest church and whilst working here he also made alterations to the Halifax Minster.

You can also see clips from our ongoing community project the ‘People of All Souls’ and our past events.

The fourth solo art exhibition ‘HIDE & SEEK’ by local artist Jane Austin is full of her love of local flora and fauna, alongside prints of our local heritage. The virtual exhibition will be available to view online as a video and digital gallery from 12th – 20th September.

You may wish to continue your discovery in Copley, the second model village created by the Akroyd family and St Stephens Church, which is also owned by The Churches Conservation Trust.
