Heptonstall Museum offers you the opportunity to expore the changing importance of Heptonstall and the surrounding area, from prehistoric times until recent day. Find out about the infamous Cragg Vale Coiners, who produced counterfeit currency and committed murder to conceal their illegal trade. Explore the temporary exhibition relating to local stories, objects and heroes. Discover the exploits of Heptonstall's Parliamentarian garrison during the English Civil War and uncover intriguing stories of the everyday lives of the people of Heptonstall and the Upper Calder Valley. Heptonstall Grammar School was established in 1642, the present building was rebuilt in 1771, where it continued to be used as a school until 1889. In 1898 it became the Yorkshire Penny Bank whose staff were careful to preserve some of the original features of the school: including a black oak desk at which pupils took their lessons which can still be found inside the Museum today. FREE Entry. Open March to October: Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays 11:00 - 16:00. Closed November to February.

Three spacious, newly converted cottages in Cragg Vale near Hebden Bridge, perfect for couples, families, walkers and cyclists. If you're looking for a relaxing short stay or a base for more energetic activities - we are perfect for you. Set in Cragg Vale, an area of outstanding natural beauty near Hebden Bridge, our old stone building which previously housed tractors and forestry equipment, has been transformed into three quality holiday cottages. The elevated position in a steep-sided wooded valley affords the cottages with fabulous moor and woodland views. Although ""Cragg"" as it is known locally, is secluded and peaceful, it is also a central location for visiting Yorkshire and Lancashire with road and direct rail links to Leeds and Manchester nearby. 300yds from the Calderdale Way and with numerous local walks, the cottages are ideal for people looking to explore the local countryside. With direct access onto the longest continuous incline in England, cyclists can relish the challenge of riding this difficult route up onto the heather clad moors. Mountain bikers have their own set of demanding routes and this area is considered ""A Nexus for mountain bikers"" (Everyday Cycling Magazine). The local moorland golf course offers some majestic views. The local bus ""The Cragg Flyer"" stops just outside the cottages for journeys to Mytholmroyd (2miles), Hebden Bridge (4miles) or just down the road to a true local pub 'The Robin Hood'. The Hinchliffe Arms country restaurant and bar is also within walking distance. We are Walker, Cyclist and Pet friendly.

Set on a riverside location in central Hebden Bridge, the inn has always been well known for fine, yet informal and relaxed country ‘pub’ dining, and its extensive choice of wines and real cask ales. All of which can be enjoyed throughout the year, whether that be in front of a roaring log fire, or in one of our scenic riverside cobbled courtyards. The newly refurbished boutique bedrooms, with Victorian roll-top baths and deep luxurious colours, are complimented by family rooms and courtyard cottages - with the riverside literally at your front door. Dated 1657, the White Lion Hotel is reputed to be the oldest building in the beautiful town of Hebden Bridge, which is renown for its independent lifestyle, creativity, and philosophy - the Yorkshire way!

Situated next to the Victoria Theatre and just a few minutes walk from the Piece Hall in the centre of Halifax, it is a temple to beer and has been voted as Pub of the Year 2018 by Halifax & Calderdale CAMRA. We have a large selection of Belgian beers, some famous some a little more obscure. The single malt Whisky selection is the best in the area, too. Open from 11am everyday.
