The bar is located close to the Piece Hall/Square Chapel & Westgate Arcade. It offers a great range of cask & keg ales & lagers, cocktails and spirits. Food too with meat/cheese boards, toasted sandwiches and generally food to go with drinks in an informal setting. The vast majority of our suppliers are from Calderdale so local produce is often be used. That’s important to us as we believe completely in the idea of spending locally helps the local community survive and grow. The name comes from the true story of when Halifax had a zoo, yes really! in Siddal just before WW1. One day a bear managed to escape, meander around a bit before finally being returned to the zoo. For over 25 years, Halifax Ski & Snowboard Centre has nestled in the hills above Halifax, West Yorkshire. Anyone can learn to Ski or Snowboard and as one of the UK’s premier ski and snowboarding Centres, we pride ourselves in helping you to learn to the highest possible standard. There are two options. The first is to start with a group taster session to see if you like it or not? If you get the bug, we then have a 6 hour course that runs for three weeks to get you up and running and will get you snowploughing down the slopes. The second option is private lessons. These are tailored to your individual needs; you have your own instructor and the timing of the lessons is more flexible. All lessons include your skis and boots, so all you have to bring with you are gloves and appropriate clothing for the weather.

The Navigation Inn dates back to the 15th century and was the site of the local Moot Hall. Some of the period features still remain in place today with a magnificent 16th C Fireplace being the focus of one of the main dining areas.

The Pub sits in the quiet outskirts of the town of Sowerby Bridge with views to the surrounding hills and the banks of the Hebble and Calder Canal from the attractive beer garden. The canal tow path runs to the side of the pub and there is a mooring for boats only 1 minute away.

Access is via Chapel Lane, a narrow road that descends from the junction of the A58 and A6026. It can also be reached on foot by walking eastwards along the canal from the basin. To get to the pub from the station, turn right at the bottom of the station steps and take the first left to the bridge over the river.
