    The Moorcock Inn is at the foot of 250 acres of productive moorland, providing plenty of plants, berries, mushrooms and game. Our 2-acre plot is being developed to provide an organic kitchen garden, providing the foundations of our pub & restaurant menus- with the best of Yorkshire produce supplying the rest. Both the pub and restaurant menus are written with the seasons and cooked over fire. ​Our wine list focuses on natural wines from small producers. We offer a continually changing selection by the glass and carafe- featuring both classic and more quirky styles. Alongside our draught beers, we also have a local and world bottled selection, particularly featuring traditional Belgian styles- some of which are rare, vintage and aged. The Pub Is a cosy, traditional freehouse, with oak beams and wood-burning stoves. It offers a menu of seasonal plates cooked over charcoal, along with house-made charcuterie and aged cheeses- accompanied by great drinks. It's the perfect place to stop by for a quick pint and a snack, or to settle in by the fire for dinner and wine. In addition to our wine and beer selections, there is a spirits list based on Yorkshire distilleries, and a seasonal cocktail list. Our pub menu can also be enjoyed outdoors, with blankets and warming fires, and a view of the sunset over the Ryburn Valley. The Calderdale Way walking route passes by us, just over 200 metres away, The restaurant offers a daily set menu consisting of multiple courses, served in a relaxed, farmhouse-like atmosphere. Some courses are served as individual plates, at other times, several dishes are served together. While the pub menu focuses on tasty snacks and small plates that are great to have alongside drinks, the restaurant menu highlights traditional homesteading techniques, cooking over fire, preservation techniques and the sourcing of local, seasonal and wild ingredients. It's the place where we strictly use the produce around us and the ingredients we are most proud of.

Also included are those 'little extras' - hairdryer, washer/dryer, WiFi, satellite TV, flat screen television, a DVD player and more. All the apartments above the ground floor enjoy extensive views across Hebden Bridge and the surrounding countryside. The apartments have been furnished in a modern and contemporary style with oak wooden floors. Each apartment has parking for one car and all upper floors are accessed via the lift, or you can climb the exterior wooden stairs and use the covered walkways. There is a large separate roof garden/conservatory on the third floor which is available at an additional charge and is ideal for small family parties. The popular town of Hebden Bridge was recently voted best town in Britain for its mix of independent shops, buzzing cafes and bars alongside galleries, gift shops and organic food outlets. The area is steeped in fascinating industrial and social history, with the Rochdale and Calder and Hebble Navigation Canals and old mill towns such as Halifax, Sowerby Bridge, Todmorden, Mytholmroyd and Haworth nearby. With walking, cycling, touring or simply pottering about straight from the door, the apartments are an ideal base for exploring Yorkshire and Lancashire.     Ogden Water is a very popular destination for picnics, walking, family outings and nature activities and is officially Yorkshire's Favourite Reservoir , having won a public vote held by Yorkshire Water in 2018.

    Why not enjoy a picnic at our picnic tables whilst taking in the stunning views.

    There are hourly buses to Ogden Water from Halifax bus station.

    There is a lovely level footpath around Ogden Water and three longer walks from the site. Friends of Calderdale Countryside have produced a detailed guide which is available at the Ogden shop, local visitor centres and the Heart of the Pennines on-line shop.

The cottage is in a semi-rural position approximately 2 miles from Halifax and is ideal for that quiet holiday. Bronte country and the Yorkshire Dales are easily accessible from the area. Halifax has many interesting buildings, museums and galleries. Pets are welcome in the cottage but on the condition that they are not left alone within the cottage. The cottage sleeps 4 and is also non smoking.

The cottage retains some of its original features, inside you will find a luxurious open-plan living room with exposed beams and underfloor heating and flagstone floors The sitting room boasts a charming woodburner set within the inglenook, and mullioned windows are filled with green landscape scenery from outside. The kitchen is contemporary in style with spotlight illuminating the good quality fixtures.     Clay House is a Jacobean building, a fine example of seventeenth century vernacular architecture, located within a beautiful rural park in the village of West Vale, less than a mile form Elland and less than three miles from Halifax. Clay House is the official start (and end) point for The Calderdale Way, a 50-mile walking route that circles the borough of Calderdale. The start of The Calderdale Way is signposted at the rear of the House, with signage, flower beds and a picnic area. The Main hall (7.3m x 10.5m) is a beautiful room with wood panelling, a minstrel gallery, polished wood floor, large stone fireplace and stone mullioned windows. It is licensed for civil ceremonies and can set up to 70 people for a formal meal, or 100 people theatre style for meetings, training sessions or presentations. Terraces and gardens in front and to the side of the House make great backgrounds for photographs and places to enjoy the views across the Park. Access Information: A portable ramp is provided to the front entrance or there is level access to the side; Two small internal ramps enable access to all public areas; A disabled toilet is available The Main Hall is fitted with an Induction Loop.

    Hello!! We (and the Alpacas) are based in the Southern Pennines in the picturesque Calder Valley outside the small market town of Hebden Bridge. We are a 15 minute bus ride from town. We first became interested in Alpacas in 2012 and have then since travelled South Wales to build our small award winning heard. Our boys are suited to the South Pennines given there native roots in South America and they love the long Summer days up in the hills just outside the lovely village of Blackshaw Head which is a mere 5 minutes away by car and bus from Heben Bridge. Come along and go for a walk with one of the guys, both you and they will love walking round our land in the country and you will experience the serenity and peacefulness of these beautiful Alpacas, and oh.. did I forget, the scenery ‘ain’t alf’ bad either!
