    A carefully-restored retreat with original features with views of rolling hills and the Hardcastle Crags valley. A few years ago this Grade II listed barn was nothing but a romantic ruin. Now, after a careful restoration, it’s been converted into a two-bedroom rural retreat that oozes rustic charm. Inside you’ll find intriguing original features from its agricultural past. Timber cow stalls form the kitchen area and original high stone walls are met by the timber frame ceiling. There’s a cosy sitting room complete with wooden floors and a log-burner and a spacious galleried bedroom upstairs. Upon arriving at Widdop Gate Barn you’ll be greeted with sweeping views of rolling hills and the wooded valley of Hardcastle Crags. From here 15 miles of footpaths unfold through unspoilt woodland, where waterfalls tumble into rocky steams. The market town of Hebden Bridge is only two miles away and the city of Halifax is 10 miles to the east. You’re also about an hours’ drive from the Yorkshire Dales which is to the north. Located in the beautiful Pennine countryside, it is situated on the edge of the Calderdale way above Hebden Bridge, with stunning views over the hilltop village of Old Town, and across the valley towards Heptonstall. The perfect location for walking or cycling on the moors and surrounding area, and we are approximately one mile from the centre of Hebden Bridge. The Cottage has an open plan living and dinning area, which includes a wood burning stove. A beautiful cast iron spiral staircase leads off the living area to the mezzanine, which houses the bathroom and sleeping area, with a comfortable double bed. Well behaved dogs are welcome, we just ask that you us know that you are bringing a doggy friend when you book.

Riverview offers two double rooms: The Green Room - A delightful vaulted and beamed bedroom with lovely views over the river and Hardcastle Crags valley at the front, and of the hamlet of Hollins to the side. In addition to your hostess tray, there is an option to have a continental breakfast served in The Green Room. Birchview - A cosy double bedroom with feature exposed stone walls. Birchview has panoramic views down to the river, to the mill-workers cottages and wooded hills beyond that fringe the start of Hardcastle Crags valley. In addition to the two delightful bedrooms, guests can enjoy breakfast in a spacious, light, timber floored dining room that overlooks the valley, and boasts woodpeckers, nuthatches and long-tailed tits as regular visitors to the feeder and bird table directly outside the windows. Hebden Bridge town centre is a ten minute walk down the hillside where you can enjoy a vibrant and eclectic mix of shops, restaurants, cafes, galleries, a theatre and the historic picture house. Excellent rail and road links make this a wonderful base from which to explore Yorkshire's finest cities and countryside.
