Hebden Bridge: Wild Food & Woodland Adventures

Hebden Bridge: Wild Food & Woodland Adventures

Combine beautiful countryside, foraging experiences and Hebden Bridge’s independent charm with this nature-inspired foodie escape. Visit during the Calderdale Festival of Food on the 7th – 20th September and choose from over 30 exclusive events and offers serving up the very best of local food and drink. Read on for our recommendations when visiting Hebden Bridge during the Festival…

Week One : 7th – 13th September

Discover Calderdale’s wild food heritage with Live Wild’s Foraging Taster Sessions (10th & 17th September) at National Trust’s Hardcastle Crags, or join the more immersive Foraging & Fungi Day Course on the 12th or 19th September.

For something truly unique, Moonfull’s Songs of the Seed Experience offers an immersive afternoon on Saturday 12th September, consisting of guided foraging, live music, poetry and storytelling, nettle cordage making, and food at T’cure – a gothic apothecary-themed restaurant in the heart of Hebden Bridge.

For a creative twist, head to Cornholme for an Autumn Clay & Enchanted Afternoon Tea experience on Sunday 13th September. Create autumn-inspired ceramic bunting with The Clay Academy, and enjoy a seasonal afternoon tea featuring unusual ingredients such as pine, moss and edible flowers, provided by seasonal chef and enchanted cake specialist, Vie en Rose Organic.

Week Two : 14th – 20th September

If you haven’t already, take the time to discover Hebden Bridge’s thriving food scene. We recommend Squeeze, a local favourite showcasing exceptional local produce. For the festival, they’ll serve two seasonal, locally sourced dishes each week: Lebanese-inspired flatbreads in week one, followed by hearty British-inspired pork belly hash and an autumnal beetroot and goat’s cheese salad in week two.

After you’ve explored the town’s vibrant cafés, bars and restaurants, settle in for a countryside stay. Festival visitors can camp at Old Chamber Farm, a traditional hill farm just 15 minutes’ walk from Hebden Bridge, offering stunning valley views and farm tours on Saturday 19th September.

Round off your stay at the Good Grub Club food market in Luddendenfoot on Sunday 20th September, celebrating local food, community and shared experiences. This pop up artisan market is also accessible from the canal, so it’s a great place to grab some yummy goodies whilst enjoying Calderdale’s lovely scenery.
