Hebden Bridge Film Festival

Starting 22nd Mar 2019 See all Dates for this event

Hebden Bridge Film Festival is joining with the historic and beautifully restored Hebden Bridge Picture House to establish the area’s first international film festival, to take place over the weekend of 22nd to 24th March 2019.

HBFF will take over the cinema and the Hebden Bridge Town Hall. The Hebden Bridge Town Hall with its cafe, Waterside Hall and courtyard will serve as the festival hub where audiences and filmmakers will mingle in a relaxed setting, and enjoy masterclasses and expert panels.

The Festival will present a dazzling programme of world cinema, UK and US independent film, as well as well as supporting and fostering new talent. It will be a packed weekend of exciting new films that will engage, challenge and delight film lovers.

Hebden Bridge Film festival (HBFF) is delighted to announce that actress Maxine Peake is their new patron. “We are absolutely thrilled to announce Maxine Peake as our Patron. Her enormous contribution to film, television and theatre as an actress, writer, and director has made her a national treasure. Her commitment to social justice and her northern roots make her a perfect fit for the Hebden Bridge Film Festival.” - LOUISE WADLEY, HBFF DIRECTOR

With over 500 years of non-conformism in the Calder Valley the theme for HBFF this year is "The Other". It will be a celebration of films by or about those who “dare to be different”, whether they exist in the margins, sit outside the mainstream or just plain don’t fit in.

A Festival Pass is the best value for film lovers – it gives entry to everything at the festival from 7pm on Friday 22 March until 11pm on Sunday 24 March 2019 – offering a choice of 13 film sessions, Q and A's, film panels and masterclass, in addition to the opening and closing parties. A Festival Pass can be bought on-line now (£27 /£32 /£37) and will make a great gift for a filmlover : www.hebdenbridgefilmfestival.org/tickets

Individual tickets, will be available online for all sessions once the full program is announced. www.hebdenbridgefilmfestival.org
