Wolforna

Price: £Free – 8

Event description

Establishing themselves as a key player not only in Leeds’ ever-evolving, endlessly exciting music scene, but in the modern-day hard rock movement, Wolforna are a four-piece on an impressive trajectory. And they’re back in Halifax to celebrate the release of their punchy, brand-new single, ‘Break You’.

After originally forming as an acoustic trio in 2019, frontman and guitarist Jack Crabtree, lead guitarist Adam Whittaker and bassist Alex Waite masterfully adapted their material to create a fully-fledged unit in 2021, when Theo Fieldhouse seized the drumsticks. This progression signalled the start of their journey into the outfit they are today.

Their signature sound fuses classic rhythm guitars with sharp lead undertones and crisp, melodic vocals, all seamlessly sewn together with pace-setting bass and drums. While this pure, traditional style of rock ‘n’ roll is often tried on for size by artists, few pull it off in such a slick, well-rounded fashion as Wolforna. Their recent return promises a huge helping of punk sensibilities, too.

Some of their biggest collective influences include Pearl Jam, Biffy Clyro and Queens of the Stone Age, in which you can identify hints in their captivating catalogue of music. And what they deliver in the studio — which culminates in tunes that reel in the streams (particularly ‘Penrose’, at just under 10,000 on Spotify) — is even more sensational when performed live.
Don’t miss them this June!
