Wainhouse Tower celebrates its sesquicentennial on 9th September 2025 – its 150th anniversary!
To help mark the occasion you can enjoy a display about the Tower at Halifax Central Library and Archives from 16th August to 20th September, including a fantastic model of the Tower (complete with one of the Dragons of Wainhouse Tower, who live in the observatory at the top), a Victoria theodolite (a precision surveying instrument), stonemason’s tools, information detailing the feud between the Tower’s owner John Edward Wainhouse and his neighbour Sir Henry Edwards and commemorative plates and brochures.
The exhibition isĀ displayed in two display cases, the first on the ground, ahead and to your left as you enter the Library and the second on the first floor at the top of the stairs.
Admission is FREE. Halifax Central Library and Archives are open:

Friday: 10am – 6.30pm
Saturday: 10am -4pm
Sunday: closed
