David Glover leads an informative ‘virtual walk’ telling the story of the ancient route from Halifax to Wakefield – the main route to the east for centuries. There are still rare traces of the medieval hollow way, or packhorse track, a steep rugged route incorporating sections often used by Anne Lister, and our course crosses the site of her mining galleries. The old track can be traced from near Hipperholme, and its legends include the tale of the obnoxious man illegally buried in his own field. This presentation finally ‘walks us’ right into the heart of old Halifax.
