Summer Foraging Course by Live Wild

Price: £65

Event description

Choose from the following dates: Friday 21st June, Saturday 22nd June, or Sunday 23rd June

Time: 11am – 3.30pm

Live Wild’s foraging courses in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire, are a journey through the season and the senses. We focus on getting to know the land and its wild food in a deep, immersive way that makes it easy to continue learning, gathering and cooking at home.

Leave the busy day-to-day behind and connect back to the peace of the natural world at our secluded woodland site near the beautiful town of Hebden Bridge. Wander in the woods and meadow with our experienced guides to discover a wide range of plants and fungi that can be used to make tasty and nutritious foods, as well as craft materials and medicines.

A big part of what excites us about foraging is tapping back into ancestral wisdom. As well as plant and fungi identification, we’ll introduce you to core bushcraft skills including an ancient firelighting technique. The day also includes a cook-up over the campfire.

The course covers an introduction to the practice of foraging and its core principles, methods of preparation and cooking, folklore & history, and the nutritional & medicinal benefits of the plants and fungi we find. You will be offered tasty wild samples along the way, from traditional preparations such as cordials, vinegars, fruit leathers & tonics to our more modern creations such as forager’s chocolate and hedgerow ketchup.

“This was such a great day. I highly recommend it to anyone. Sophie and Leonie were wonderful, knowledgeable leaders and brought what seemed on the surface to be a largely overgrown space into a potential treasure trove of edible treats. Karen, Participant on Summer foraging course
