As part of the 2025 Halifax Heritage Festival, historian David Glover uncovers the remarkable yet overlooked women of Halifax’s past in this hour-long talk, plus a delicious 2-course hot supper. Discover the extraordinary stories of Hannah Logan, who walked from Halifax to London in 1832; Lucy Hamerton, who documented the quirks of 19th-century Elland; Caroline Freeman, Calderdale’s first known female university graduate; and Eileen Nugent, secretary to Scouting’s founder, Baden Powell.These women shaped history in their own ways yet remain largely forgotten. Join us for an engaging talk that brings their stories to life!
