Free exhibition hosted by the amazing Feline Woodcraft Shop – ‘Resting Places’ is an exhibition of painting, sculptural basketry and wild crafted items by me, Sara Abbott.
Abbott’s new collection of works reflects the wild and beautiful places where she has found rest and peace. A tonic for our times. A delicious bundle of captured vistas through the window of her ‘Little Black Van’ nomadic home. Created in situ and in her Hebden Bridge studio there are views from the white cliffs of Dover to the Highlands of Scotland and of course from our beautiful Calder Valley. The Basketry incorporates wild foraged elements from those landscapes and there are small wild dug and fired clay vessels.
The exhibition is hosted by the Wilkinson family who run the hidden gem that is the ‘Feline Woodcraft Shop’. Tucked alongside the river and the canal, on the road between Hebden Bridge and Todmorden, the old mill holds treasure indeed. A mix of Aladin’s Cave and the Old Curiosity Shop you can find almost anything. Antiques, books, plants and all sorts of whimsy. There’s a cafe too, walkers have found this spot and there’s high demand for scones and tea. Above is the carpentry workshop, the whole enterprise a family affair.
Conveniently on bus route 590 with a stop right outside, adjacent to the canal path and with parking too it’s well worth a visit. The main exhibition space is supported with smaller pop-up displays, works from local makers and crafters, you are in for a treat.
Feline Woodcraft is accessible and has wheelchair friendly facilities.
