Join watercolor artist Jane Austin in the Bankfield Museum gallery for a free demonstration of the watercolour techniques she applies to painting feathers. Birds of prey are particularly wonderful to observe closely as the complex layers can be seen clearly to give depth to a painting. You can distinguish the variety of sizes, shapes, and direction of feathers up close, each having their own purpose for the bird.
Layering colour over fine mark making with masking fluid the body of feathers builds, using different sizes of brush and implement as needed.
Jane will be leading a practical one-day workshop using this technique at Bankfield Museum on Saturday 27th January. Booking essential.
