This event is part of Culturedale – a jam-packed programme of events and activities from April 24 – April 25 celebrating Calderdale’s Year of Culture!
Opal’s Comet is a vivid, animated performance presented by arts organisation Mr Wilson’s and commissioned as part of Culturedale, Calderdale’s Year of Culture 2024.
Taking place on a boat on the heritage waterways of the Rochdale Canal and the Calder Hebble Navigation, each voyage is soundtracked by a live band called The Greyhounds, performing an original song cycle.
Audiences are invited to join Opal’s Comet on bridges and tow paths. The songs each explore a different season of grief and can be sung together with the community in the landscape.
A digital pack with songs and information, will be available on the website and you can follow the boat using live GPS navigation. Come and join us on this special voyage.
