Northowram Scarecrow Event
Event description
Held over the May Day Bank Holiday weekend, 2nd to 4th May, 2026
Scarecrows are displayed throughout the village, and secret judges decide on the Best Scarecrow 2026
Visitors can also vote for the ‘Peoples Choice’ best scarecrow
There are a variety of activities over the weekend that enhance the experience for visitors to the village including:
An Opening Ceremony with The Mayor of Calderdale
Adult and Junior Scarecrow quiz trails
Fun dog show
Children’s games
Face painting
Tombola
Raffle
Bouncy castle
Brass Band
Football Activities
Tennis Activities
Wool Spinning Demonstration
A picture history about The Village Memorial Stone
The Shoulder of Mutton, Jacks Windmill Tavern and The Club, all have Live Bands and food each day
Programmes are available to buy from the Scarecrow HQ caravan based in The Club car park
So come along for a fun filled “family or couples or just friends” day out.
