The main hall at Bankfield Museum is hung with several works by John Holland (1829-1886), held in Calderdale Museums Service’s collection.
Holland was born in Nottingham and painted landscapes and coastal scenes. He lived in Hebden Bridge for a few years, around 1867, and exhibited locally in Halifax and Hebden. The artworks to be displayed include views of Mytholmroyd, Cragg Vale, Todmorden, Burnley Valley and Hebden Bridge.
Please note that Bankfield Museum is open Tuesday to Saturday 10am – 4pm and closed on Sundays and Mondays.
