Discover the art of traditional sourdough baking with a hands-on workshop at the beautiful Outback Community Kitchen and Garden in the heart of Halifax.
The Outback Community Kitchen and Garden is a thriving community space where people come together to grow food, learn new skills and connect with others. Through gardening, cooking, beekeeping and volunteering opportunities, the Outback Kitchen promotes wellbeing, sustainability and food resilience in a welcoming environment for all.
During this relaxed and friendly session, you’ll enjoy a tasting of delicious sourdough breads while learning the fundamentals of sourdough baking. Guided by the Outback team, you’ll prepare your own sourdough loaf to take home and bake, with a loaf tin provided.
The experience also includes a guided tour of the beautiful Outback Community Garden, where fruit, vegetables and other produce are grown throughout the year. To complete the morning, each participant will take home a jar of homemade Outback jam made with fruit grown in the garden, perfect for enjoying with your freshly baked sourdough loaf.
Whether you’re completely new to sourdough or looking to build your confidence in bread making, this workshop offers a wonderful opportunity to learn, connect and celebrate local food.
