Introduction Silk Shading Workshop at Dean Clough

Learn the art of silk shading in this one-day workshop taught by Royal School of Needlework trained embroiderer Jessica Aldred. Silk shading is also known as ‘painting with a needle’- it captures the art of embroidery in its truest sense transforming the needle and thread into tools to blend and create three-dimensional effects. Create your own friendly moth and learn how to consider light and shade, and master long and short stitch.
This class is suitable for beginners and experienced stitchers. The class fee includes all of the materials- comprehensive written instructions, threads, needles and fabric. You will need to bring your own ring frame, scissors, notepad and pencil and magnifier if you need one. Ring frames and scissors will also be available to borrow.
