Event description

An exhibition at Bankfield Museum which explores how we remember the loved ones we have lost, with displays of historic and contemporary funeral wear, jewellery and more.

Coping with loss is one of the most difficult things we have to deal with, but is something that befalls us all. This new exhibition traces the way we have coped with loss and remembered our loved ones from ancient times to the present day. There are displays of historic funeral goods, alongside Victorian mourning wear and jewellery, alongside military memorabilia and modern-day funerary items.

Bankfield Museum is Open Tuesday to Saturday: 10am to 4pm

Accessibility Information:

  • Disabled parking is to the rear of building with access via a ramp.
  • All of the Ground Floor is wheelchair accessible (main areas and galleries of museum).
  • Toilets, disabled toilet and baby change are all on ground floor.
  • Large print labels are available for exhibitions. and Handling Boxes are available for visually impaired visitors .
