Halifax Comedy Festival 2024 ‘On Tour’ presents Comedy at The Albany Arcade Halifax Borough Market

Featuring Rob Rouse, Big Lou, Stephanie Laing and Patrick Monahan

About the comedians…

As seen on Ben Elton’s hit BBC2 Shakespeare sitcom ‘Upstart Crow’ – Rob Rouse‘s other TV credits include presenting the first series of The Friday Night Project on Channel 4, the C4 sketch show Spoons, and playing Mike in the first series of he BBC3 sitcom Grown Ups.

Since winning Channel Four’s prestigious ‘So You Think You’re Funny?’ Competition at the Edinburgh Festival in 1998, an award also won by Peter Kay, Lee Mack, Tommy Tiernan and more, Rob has been a regular performer at major venues on both the London and National circuit.

He is also headlining the Comedy Network for a third season this year, performing at Universities Throughout the British Isles.

“Rob Rouse is a born clown, a latter-day Stan Laurel” Time Out

Lewis ‘Big Lou’ Jones has become a favourite on both the comedy circuit and after dinner circuit since he burst on to the scene back in 2010 with his modern twist on old school joke telling. He’s like a cross between Les Dawson and Jimmy Carr!

This Manchester born comic announced himself on to the comedy scene by winning the Lass O’Gowrie New Comedian Of The Year competition that same year along with getting to the finals of the Speckled Hen Comedian Of The Year.

“Big Lou, a robust gag-merchant, the material is original as well as punchy, Lou is blessed with funny bones that keeps the laughs coming.” – Chortle

Stephanie started performing in April 2007 on the Scottish comedy circuit. She quickly established herself as one of the most promising acts of her generation on the circuit, and in 2015 appeared as a finalist in the prestigious Leicester Mercury Comedian Of The Year competition.

She has appeared at Brighton Fringe, Leicester Comedy Festival, York Comedy Festival, Bath Comedy Festival, Women in Comedy Festival as well as appearing at the Edinburgh Fringe every year since 2010. Stephanie can also be found performing for the likes of Laughterhouse, The Frog & Bucket, Komedia, Funhouse Comedy Clubs, Up The Creek and The Comedy Station.

Her material is a mix of silliness, filth and unusual observations, underpinned by a disarming honesty which makes her seem charmingly vulnerable.

“Gloriously silly … wonderfully unpretentious” – Broadway Baby.

Patrick Monahan is the only comedian we’ve ever known who’s embarked on not one, but two national tours, at the same time! The first was a result of winning ITV’s ‘Show Me The Funny’ and the other was own tour his show “Hug Me I Feel Good”.

He’s appeared on numerous television shows from BBC1, 2, 3 to ITV1 and 2, Channel 4, Channel 5, and Sky 1. And the reason he’s done all this? He’s absolutely 100% cast iron hilarious and never fails to entertain a crown into delightful hysterics.

A notoriously warm and friendly comic he also holds the world record for “Longest Hug” at a time of 25 hours and 25 minutes set at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2013.

“A force of nature, effortless charm and the mother of all feelgood finales” Mail on Sunday
