One had its origins in the 13th Century, the other arrived 600 years later, each was splendid, but we have lost both. Recently brought back to local consciousness by the wonderful paintings of Kate Lycett, their stories are fascinating. Hear about the troubles of the Sunderland family during and after the English Civil War, and how their home never had an internal staircase. Find out about the terrible rail accident which killed the owner of Castle Carr and the reasons for the deliberate destruction of both structures in the mid-20th Century.
