Heritage Festival Open days – Halifax Minster
Event description
Halifax Minster is a stunning 15th Century, Grade I listed Parish Church and is a site of major historic significance, a place of worship, prayer, of civic engagement, education and Culture with a year – round programme of concerts and events.
Visit Halifax Minster during the Heritage Festival where you can take a trip up the mighty Bell Tower, hear the mighty Harrison Organ (places to be booked in advance) and see the place Anne Lister was baptised, worshipped and was buried.
Admire the craftsmanship of he ornate box pews, font covers and the ‘mousey’ Thompson chairs and marvel at the stunning painted ceiling and elegant architecture and remember the the members of the Duke of Wellington’s regiment, who’s colours are laid up in the regimental Chapel. While there you can or join in one of there daily workshop services or to soak up the spiritual atmosphere of this ancient place, a centre of prayer for 900 years.
The Minster will be open from 10am – 4pm during the Halifax Heritage Festival, with afternoon teas, guided tours, an exhibition of the Minsters textiles displayed by our Broderers group, trips up the tower, live music and a visit by His Majesty’s Regiment of Foot.
