Halifax Civic Trust Heritage Walk – THE FULL LENGTH OF THE WAKEFIELD GATE or MAGNA VIA

Meet at start of Norcliffe Lane HX3 8PL on Red Beck bridge, near the short terrace of houses. Approach via Station Road, Hipperholme and Badger Lane.
An exhilarating, challenging linear walk from Badger Lane along the eastern medieval route into Halifax, including the hollow way known as Dark Lane, with fine views of the Shibden Valley, panoramic views from Beacon Hill, and Anne Lister tales.
Hear about mining conflicts, the flood of 1837, the strange man buried in his own field, and the lost houses which once lined Old Bank.
Rough paths and steep slopes in places – tough footwear needed.
