Halifax Antiquarian Society Lecture – The Pennines and the Rise of the Factory

Price: £Free – 3

Event description

7.30pm

The Pennines and the Rise of the Factory: Why the Industrial Revolution Happened Here.

Stephen Caunce, Member

In 2015, the Science Museum in London was telling visitors that “No-one knows why the Industrial Revolution took off when it did, with Britain in the lead.” This talk aims to restate the classic account that it was, for good or ill, our part of the Pennines which took the vital

steps towards the radical change in production techniques which went on to change the world, explaining in a novel way what rendered this area uniquely ready to play

Meetings are held in the Halifax Room, Calderdale Industrial Museum, Square Road, Halifax HX1 1Q
