Novelist Jean Renwick will talk of the years of painstaking research behind her recently published family saga, The Mourning Brooch, Book One – An ending. A beginning, which is based upon the lives of real Yorkshire people who lived in the second half of the 19th century. After inheriting a mourning brooch, Jean was intrigued to know who was Elizabeth Addy, commemorated in the brooch, and what happened to the two little girls she left behind. Acclaimed by local historians for its authenticity, the novel reveals how the girls’ lives take them in very different directions between 1849 and 1876
