Glow, Sowerby Bridge’s all new winter art festival, takes place for the first time on the week commencing 6th December 2021, with a big festival finale on the 12th December 2021.
Glow begins the week commencing 6th December with an Art Trail being mounted in the windows of Sowerby Bridge high street. The art featured is a collection of Light Art pieces created by local artists and secondary school students from Trinity Academy Grammar in Sowerby Bridge. The art will be available for viewing from 6th December until the 13th December 2021, and a map of artwork will be available on the Glow social media pages.
The Glow finale is a festival of art happening on 12th December 2021 on Hollins Mill Lane. This features outdoor performances from local theatre companies Thingumajig Theatre and Eye of the Newt, alongside a specially created performance by the Calderdale Theatre School, music from the Sowerby Bridge Street Band, and fire eating from drag queen Dolls Nest. The festival will begin at 4pm on Hollins Mill Lane, be brought together by local buskers dotted up and down the Lane, a lit- up canoe paddle from the Halifax Canoe Club, and to end the night, a firework display on Hollins Mill Lane at 6pm!
Family workshops where you can make your own antler head-dress will be taking place before the festivities begin – please visit the Glow social media pages for more information on workshops and early events.
But the party doesn’t end there – after the fireworks the After-Glow events start; a programme of music, spoken word, and dance hosted by pubs and venues across Sowerby Bridge. Follow the Glow social media pages for more information on After-Glow.
