SUMMARY:Fashions in the Time of Anne Lister Celebratory Opening Event
DESCRIPTION:10am \nFREE entry \nJoin us as we celebrate the opening of the new ‘Fashions in Anne Lister’s Time’ exhibition\, exploring the many different styles of fashion popular in her lifetime. The ‘Shibden 600’ exhibition is also open and tells the story of 600 years of history at Shibden Hall. \nArtist Kate Lycett will be signing copies of her new book ‘The Nightingale Project’ on the last day of her exhibition ‘Woodland Paths and Grand Days Out’. \nSpeeches at 10.15am\, drinks will be served. No need to book\, everybody welcome. \n  \nCharting the changing shape of fashion in the early 1800s from the empire line dresses to ‘leg of mutton’ sleeves\, this exhibition will showcase Calderdale Museum’s world class costume and textile collection alongside loans from museums and private collectors. \nThe exhibition will allow you to discover how it feels to wear an 1830s day dress with our new trying on outfit\, and learn what ladies wore under their gowns to create these flamboyant shapes. \nThe exhibition is at Bankfield Museum’s Fashion Gallery. \nPlease note that Bankfield Museum is open Tuesday to Saturday 10am – 4pm and closed on Sundays and Mondays. \n  \nAccessibility Information: \n\nDisabled parking is to the rear of building with access via a ramp.\nAll of the Ground Floor is wheelchair accessible (main areas and galleries of museum).\nToilets\, disabled toilet and baby change are all on ground floor.\nLarge print labels are available for exhibitions. and Handling Boxes are available for visually impaired visitors .\nPlease contact us to discuss any requirements\, our staff will be glad to help you.
