Charting the changing shape of fashion in the early 1800s from the empire line dresses to ‘leg of mutton’ sleeves, this exhibition will showcase Calderdale Museum’s world class costume and textile collection alongside loans from museums and private collectors.
The exhibition will allow you to discover how it feels to wear an 1830s day dress with our new trying on outfit, and learn what ladies wore under their gowns to create these flamboyant shapes.
The exhibition is at Bankfield Museum’s Fashion Gallery.
Please note that Bankfield Museum is open Tuesday to Saturday 10am – 4pm and closed on Sundays and Mondays.
