The Eritrean coffee ceremony is one of the country’s most treasured cultural traditions. More than a way of preparing coffee, it is a ritual of hospitality, generosity, conversation and community that has been shared across generations.
Gather round as green coffee beans are roasted over charcoal, releasing their rich aroma before beign freshly ground and brewed in a traditional jebena clay pot. Coffee is served in three ceremonial rounds, each carrying its own meaning and making a moment to pause, reflect and connect with those around you.
Throughout the experience, you’ll discover the history, customs and symbolism behind the ceremony, alongside stories of Eritrean food culture, family traditions and the role that coffee continues to play in everyday life.
