A talk by Bryan Harkness
The Calderdale Industrial Museum Association talk for May is all about “Edward Crossley’s Two Very Famous Telescopes”. Edward Crossley took over the running of the family carpet business at only age 27. Edward though had been interested in astronomy from a very young age. It was a very serious hobby and so his new found position in Crossley Carpets allowed him the privilege to build observatories in Halifax and to purchase and use two telescopes that finished up at opposite ends of the globe in New Zealand and California. But how and why and when did all this come about? Find out at this interesting talk from Bryan Harkness.
All are welcome.
