An Illustrated PowerPoint Talk by DAVID GLOVER –
In 1613 a poisoning took place in the Tower of London, following a nasty, cleverly-concealed plot. The story involved intrigue, the occult, gay relationships, aristocracy and royalty. Much was connected with the struggle of the famous Howard family for influence at Court and Sir Thomas Overbury was the victim. The killer was a beautiful woman, twice married (sort of) who was eventually brought to trial, and sentenced to be hanged. A lurid, extraordinary and almost unbelievable tale.
