Culturedale: Arvon Festival of Writing Family Fun Day

Price: £Free

Event description

This event is part of Culturedale – a jam-packed programme of events and activities from April 24 – April 25 celebrating Calderdale’s Year of Culture!

Arvon North’s Festival of Writing is a celebration of creative writing, imagination, and the power of storytelling.

This isn’t a literature festival. Instead, the Festival of Writing is a unique opportunity for everyone to explore the world of writing.

From Thursday 30 May – Sunday 2 June 2024, the town of Hebden Bridge will be the backdrop for Arvon North’s first creative writing weekend, featuring high quality workshops, speed pitching sessions, a free family fun day, and our very own Arvon exhibition.

There’s something for everyone to discover – have a look at Arvon North’s website to see the full Festival brochure and list of events.

Family Fun Day, Sunday 2nd June 10am – 4pm

Arvon North’s free Family Fun Day will include free drop-in workshops on the hour in our fairy-lit tent as well as outdoor activities.

For the adults, there will be intimate readings aboard our Festival narrowboat ‘Utopia’ from a host of local writers.

The Family Fun Day is free to visit and no booking is required.

Accessibility Information: There are several level or sloped access points to Calder Holmes Park and level pathways throughout.

Parking in Hebden Bridge is limited. We encourage you to use public transport to travel to The Festival of Writing where possible. If you need to travel by car, we recommend parking at Mytholmroyd train station car park and travelling to Hebden Bridge by train (2 minutes by train).
