The Walkers Are Welcome Hebden Royd Group and Hebden Bridge Arts launched their CROSSINGS project in March, calling it ‘a giant outdoor photo adventure’. Everyone was invited to take part; young and old, those with cameras and those with smart phones, photography novices and professionals alike. Participants were asked to go for a walk to ‘capture’ photographic images of the crossings and land marks around Calderdale in both the countryside and urban areas. The aim was to create a huge repository of local crossings, and share these images with the public through an exhibition, featuring prints, mapping and a projected slide show of all submitted photographs.
The resulting exhibition, with FREE entry, will be stopping off at Hebden Bridge Town Hall on Saturday 11 June, St John’s Church in Cragg Vale on Saturday 18 June and Mytholmroyd Community Centre on Saturday 25 June, and is open from 11am to 4pm.
In addition. A special Crossings trail is being developed, influenced by the locations of some of the most exciting and beautiful Crossings photo submissions, celebrating the unique features of our local landscape. Visit www.hebdenbridgearts.co.uk for Crossings exhibition information.
Crossings is a Hebden Bridge Arts collaboration with ‘The Walkers Are Welcome Hebden Royd Group’ as part of Hebden Bridge Arts’ Land Marks project, which linked Calderdale community groups with local artists to creatively explore the environment. The project is supported by Hebden Royd Town Council, Calderdale Council, Arts Council England and Art Fund. Hebden Bridge Arts is the new name for Hebden Bridge Arts Festival.
