Meet at the Leisure Centre Car Park Ewood Lane, next to Centre Vale Park, what3words:- take.roadmap.clicker.
Come join us for a fun day of collecting seeds and connecting with nature! This event is a great opportunity to learn about different tree species and how to harvest their seeds. You will be helping to the diversify new woodlands and hedgerows. Come dressed for the weather, so waterproofs if showers are forecast, and lots of warm layers if it is forecast to be cold, you will also need suitable footwear, e.g. walking boots. If the weather is truly awful, we will postpone to another date. Bring a packed lunch and drinking water. We will provide collecting equipment.
The seeds you collect will be processed, germinated and grown on at our Community Tree Nursery, Daisy Bank, Mytholmroyd. Here we have a weekly volunteer day, Forus Fridays where you will always be welcome. When the saplings are big enough, they will be available for the many planting schemes we carry out in Calderdale each winter.
This community event is supported by the Growing Diversity project, which is a partnership between the Fellowship of Trees, and the Woodland Trust, supported by the Forestry Commission.
