SUMMARY:Carmen presented by The Ukrainian National Opera
DESCRIPTION:7:30pm \nMusic by Georges Bizet.Sung in French with English Surtitles \nPerformed by the Dnipro Opera\, from Ukraine \nFeaturing an impressive cast and accompanied by a live orchestra of over 30 musicians. \nAfter last season’s premier in the UK\, we are delighted to bring back Dnipro Opera theatre from the Ukraine. This opera and ballet theatre has a long-standing heritage of top-quality opera productions\, and we are excited to bring it back to the UK in our 2024 Opera Season. \nCarmen – feel the thrill of fiery passion\, jealousy\, and violence of 19th century Seville Bizet’s most popular opera. \nCarmen tells the story of the downfall of Don José\, a naïve soldier who falls head over heels in love with Carmen\, a seductive\, free-spirited femme fatale. The infatuated Don José abandons his childhood sweetheart and neglects his military duties\, only to lose the fickle Carmen to the glamorous toreador Escamillo. \nThe music of Carmen has been widely acclaimed for the brilliance of its melodies\, enthralling atmosphere\, and orchestration\, as well as for the skill with which Bizet musically represented the emotions and suffering of his characters. \nThe Toreador Song is among the best know of all operatic arias. \nThe rich and colourful vigour of the gypsies’ scenes will have you on the edge of your seat\, the vibrancy\, enthusiasm\, and intensity of the performances will reverberate long after the final curtain has fallen. \n  \nAccessibility Information: \n\nWheelchair access \nFollowing recent improvements to the stalls seating area\, we now offer easier access and better viewing locations for wheelchair users. So you can be assured of a comfortable and enjoyable experience\, we have level access to the stalls from Commercial Street and provide two accessible toilets on the stalls level. \n  \nHearing Impaired \nThe Victoria Theatre has an induction loop for hearing aid users in the auditorium and Box Office.\nAdditionally the Victoria Theatre now offers an infra-red audio system allowing customers in the Stalls and The Circle and to individually adjust the volume of the performance. \n  \nVisual Impairments \nWe now offer versions of our seasonal brochure in large print. Please contact the box office to request copies to be sent to you.\nGuide dogs are welcome and we will be pleased to provide a bowl of water on request. \n  \nComplimentary tickets\nWe are pleased to offer a complimentary ticket to essential carers of people with additional needs.
