Incredible Edible Todmorden and Pennine Cropshare’s Extra Local Gardening Sunday and Community Lunch

Join us for a special edition of Gardening Sunday as part of Calderdale Festival of Food 

This event is part of the Calderdale Festival of Food – two weeks of eating and exploring in Calderdale, from the 7th – 20th September. Discover more about the festival here.

Incredible Edible Todmorden’s Gardening Sunday sessions happen monthly on the first and third Sunday. We meet at Todmorden College from 10am, and go out in groups to grow, tend to, and harvest fruit, vegetables and herbs in our various growing areas around Todmorden town centre. No gardening experience is required, we provide all the tools you’ll need, and everyone is welcome.

Then, at midday, we get together to share a delicious plant-based lunch around our big table, chatting, catching up, and celebrating what makes Todmorden’s community so special.

This special ‘Calderdale Festival of Food’ edition of Gardening Sunday is being hosted in partnership with our friends at Pennine Cropshare and will feature a specially curated lunch centred around locally grown ingredients, many of which are kindly provided by Pennine Cropshare’s network of local growers or grown right here in Todmorden by Incredible Edible. 

Come along, do some gardening if you fancy it, join us for a tasty free lunch, and find out about the work of Pennine Cropshare and Incredible Edible Todmorden. 

There’s no need to book: Just turn up at Todmorden College from 10am on Sunday 20th of September for gardening or at 12pm for lunch.

Incredible Edible Todmorden plants free food in public spaces for everyone to share. We grow, cook, and learn together — building a kinder, greener community.

You can grow anywhere. It’s what we believe, and it’s what we’ve seen — in window boxes and neglected corners of town, in conversations between strangers who became friends, in the quiet confidence that comes from growing something with your own hands. Growth takes many forms here: vegetables, yes, but also friendships, skills, resilience, and community. All of it matters. All of it counts.

Pennine Cropshare is a not-for-profit organisation providing super local agroecological produce and organic food via our friendly veg bag scheme based in Hebden Bridge.  We campaign for a better food system, and deliver ethical, sustainable veg, fruit and other food items to convenient collection points in Calderdale and East Lancashire. We support local growers and organic farmers by providing a market for sale.
